In Colorado it is routine for sub excavating projects to envelop 30 acres or more to remove, compact, or deplete the expansive clays from a site prior to building. These projects require hundreds of thousands of cubic yards to be removed, mixed, and reintroduced to large areas of land. Typically, as many as 30 excavators per site can be doing a job at one time.
